Larry and Doris Demel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

They were united in marriage Dec. 8, 1962, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman. The couple received a special blessing from Fr. Richard O’Rourke at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church the morning of their anniversary and celebrated later that day surrounded by friends and family at the home of Dave and Amy Demel.

After his retirement from the U.S. Navy in 1977, the couple moved to Killeen where they raised their five children.

Their children are Martin Demel of Killeen, Dave and Amy Demel of Harker Heights, Mathew and Chantelle (Demel) Horner of Killeen, Danny Demel of Chandler, Ariz., and Donny Demel of Mesa, Ariz. They have nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
