Picola Theresa and Louis Matthew Gardner of Killeen recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

Picola Theresa Brown and Louis Matthew Gardner were united in marriage on June 15, 1968, at the Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, La.

Mrs. Gardner is a retired substitute teacher for the Killeen Independent School District and a retired Luby’s Cafeteria worker.

Mr. Gardner is currently employed as a Killeen city deputy marshal. He also is a retired U.S. Army chief warrant officer-4 and a retired Department of Public Safety state trooper.

Their children are Deborah M. Gardner of Humble and Angela T. Patrick of Pflugerville. They have two grandsons.

Petco awards grant to Killeen Animal Services

Killeen Animal Services announced Wednesday it has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support funding that will be used to aid the Killeen shelter’s ongoing spay and neuter program and the care of animals that can be entered into the adoption program.
