Roosevelt “Roo” and Charmaine Huggins, of Killeen, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday at Club Hood.

The couple was united in marriage on Aug. 6, 1966, at New Ark Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La., by the late Rev. Q.T. Ellis.

The golden anniversary celebration was hosted by their sons, Roosevelt R.F. Huggins and his wife, Mary Jo, of Cypress and Reggie Huggins and his wife, Rhona, of Killeen. They have three grandchildren.

A host of family and friends from Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, New Jersey, Washington, Maryland, Arkansas and various parts of Texas were in attendance.

Mrs. Higgins is a retired teacher of Killeen Independent School District.

Mr. Huggins is a retired command sergeant major with the U.S. Army and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as a freshman counselor.

They have lived in Killeen for 42 years and look forward to many more years of love and happiness. They give God all the glory and praise for 50 years of marriage.
