Brig. Gen. Donald and Sherri MacWillie of College Station announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Melyssa-Anne Kaitlin MacWillie of College Station, to Robert E. Stricklin Jr. of College Station, son of Robert and Chrystal Stricklin of San Antonio.

The bride-elect received a bachelor of science in recreation, park and tourism sciences from Texas A&M University in 2012. She is an academic adviser for the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M.

The prospective groom received a bachelor of science in information technology management from Texas A&M in 2011. He works as a training support technician for Knowledge Based Systems Inc.

The couple plans a May 25, 2013, wedding at Fort Hood.

CTC Foundation accepting scholarship applications

The Central Texas College Foundation is accepting applications online for scholarships to be awarded for the fall and spring 2018 semesters. Students can apply online through March 31. The scholarships will be awarded near the end of this spring semester.

Judge blocks Texas cutting Medicaid to Planned Parenthood

AUSTIN — A federal judge ruled Tuesday that Texas can’t cut off Medicaid dollars to Planned Parenthood over secretly recorded videos taken by anti-abortion activists in 2015 that launched Republican efforts across the U.S. to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider.
