Beverley and Patrick McLaughlin of Lexington, Ky., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 6.

The couple met while they were attending the University of Oklahoma, and were united in marriage on Dec. 6, 1963, at the Capitol Hill Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. McLaughlin was an educator for 38 years in the public schools of Oklahoma, Virginia and Texas, including 24 years in the Copperas Cove Independent School District.

Mr. McLaughlin is retired from the staff of the U.S. National Archives in Washington, D.C., where he was assistant director of the Cartographic Division.

They were long-time residents of Copperas Cove and still have many friends in Central Texas.

Their daughter Kathleen, currently residing in Phoenix, Ariz., graduated from Copperas Cove High School with the class of 1992.

Petco awards grant to Killeen Animal Services

Killeen Animal Services announced Wednesday it has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support funding that will be used to aid the Killeen shelter’s ongoing spay and neuter program and the care of animals that can be entered into the adoption program.
