Paris-Fontanez — 55 years

Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Nicolas and Anne Paris-Fontanez of Harker Heights celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Jan. 31.

Anne Shizue Ishiura and Nicolas Paris-Fontanez were united in marriage on Jan. 31, 1959, at Camp Zama, Japan.

The couple celebrated with a dinner hosted by their daughters, in-laws and granddaughter at McCormick and Schmick’s at The Domain in Austin.

Mr. Paris-Fontanez is retired from the U.S. Army. Mrs. Paris-Fontanez is a retired English translator at Camp Fuchinobe, Japan. They have lived in the area for 35 years.

Their children are Ivonne Paris-Barron of Austin and Danielle Paris-Phillips of Oak Park, Ill. They have one grandchild.

CTC Foundation accepting scholarship applications

The Central Texas College Foundation is accepting applications online for scholarships to be awarded for the fall and spring 2018 semesters. Students can apply online through March 31. The scholarships will be awarded near the end of this spring semester.

Judge blocks Texas cutting Medicaid to Planned Parenthood

AUSTIN — A federal judge ruled Tuesday that Texas can’t cut off Medicaid dollars to Planned Parenthood over secretly recorded videos taken by anti-abortion activists in 2015 that launched Republican efforts across the U.S. to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider.
