Cassandra Elizabeth Kiefer of Harker Heights and Joseph Antonio Torres of Killeen were united in marriage on Aug. 11, 2012, at Boulder Springs in New Braunfels. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s uncle, David C. Rose of LaQuinta, Calif. Her father, Col. Michael L. Kiefer of the U.S. Army, gave the bride away.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Staci Kiefer. She graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s of science in family and consumer science.

The groom is the son of Jose Torres and Dawn Gadney. He graduated from Ellison High School and is serving in the U.S. Air Force as an airman first class.

The bride wore a custom gown in the mermaid/trumpet style with a custom crystal and satin waist sash. The bridesmaids wore yellow with gray accents.

The groom wore a traditional black tuxedo and the groomsmen wore gray tuxedos with yellow accents.

The flower girl was the groom’s niece, Madison Riley Bannister, of Killeen.

The couple currently resides in Ramstein, Germany.

Unaccompanied World War II-era vet to be buried Monday

The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will conduct an unaccompanied veteran burial at 2 p.m. Monday for Sgt. Ellis Ratliff, 89, a U.S. Army-Air Force veteran. The Central Texas community is invited to the ceremony.

Volunteer Killeen will host a volunteer orientation Feb. 4. The training is free and will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Killeen Community Center, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd.
