Editor’s note: For the past year, the reporters at the Killeen Daily Herald have provided our readers a glimpse of the individuals who tirelessly volunteer in our communities — from Lampasas to Belton, Gatesville, Temple, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove and Killeen — through a series called Reaching Out, which ran in each Monday’s edition of the paper, and live online at kdhnews.com/reaching_out.
