Army Staff Sgt. Giunta Awarded Medal of Honor by President Obama

Army Staff Sgt. Sal Giunta is awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama for conspicuous gallantry during a ceremony Nov. 16, 2010, at the White House in Washington. Giunta received the medal for his courageous actions during combat operations against an armed enemy in October 2007 in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan. He is the first living veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to receive the medal.

Driver involved in crash at Harker Heights school taken to hospital

HARKER HEIGHTS — A car crash in the parking lot at Harker Heights High School on Thursday damaged 10 cars, including the vehicle that apparently caused the crash, according to police spokesman Sgt. Steven Miller.
