I'm back on post today for another day of the trial of accused Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan.

It's day four of Hasan's trial capital murder trial. Today's hearing should be a continuation of testimony from eye witnesses and shooting victims from the Nov. 5, 2009. The full day of testimony yesterday featured testimony from 15 people, the large majority of which were soldiers present at building 42003 of the Soldier Readiness Processing Center where the shooting occurred. My coverage of the day is here.

The trial is moving much faster than many had guessed. Before Hasan fired his attorneys, lawyers for both sides had estimated the trial would take somewhere between two and four months to complete. Jury selection was supposed to take a whole month. Instead it took about a week. The prosecution had a witness list of 270. We have heard they may only call about 80.

Hasan is not performing any cross examination, which is cutting back immensely on the time each witness is on the stand. Even star witnesses like Sgt. 1st Class Maria Guerra, the supervisor of building 42003 at the time of the shooting, was only on the stand for about 50 minutes. The average length of testimony was closer to about 20 minutes.

Fifteen witnesses testified yesterday, bringing the total so far to 27.

Media round-up:

The number of agencies here has dropped off sharply. The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the San Antonio Express-News are here. All of the local network affiliates are here as well as a few regional stations from Dallas and Houston.

Fox News focused on the lack of emotion Hasan showed during testimony.

The Associated Press via philly.com leads off with Guerra's testimony.
