Good morning from The Great Place.

It's day two of the trial of Maj. Nidal Hasan, the army officer who has admitted to carrying out the 2009 shooting spree here that killed 13. Yesterday, the prosecution moved at a fast clip, calling 12 witnesses. The highlights included the testimony of the first victim, retired Staff Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford, and the 911 call of an employee at the Soldier Readiness Processing Center that recorded audio of the shooting. Check out my coverage here, which includes a brief run down of each witness.

With such extended hearings, deciding what to focus on can be a very tough decision. My main goal yesterday was to give readers a run down of Hasan's comments along with a narrative account of the shooting as told through the testimony of Lunsford and Michelle Harper, the above mentioned staffer at the site of the shooting.

I should mention that I was wrong again in my morning prognostications about what will happen in these hearings. I'm batting about .100 now, with my swing and a miss on my prediction Hasan would not give an opening statement. In case you missed it, he did, telling the court at the outset "I am the shooter."

Today, I expect more testimony from victims and the evidence should continue to get more and more graphic.

Media report:

A little more than half as many news agencies are here today, compared to yesterday. USA Today, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Fox News, CNN, San Antonio Express-News, Austin American-Statesman and about a dozen local and regional TV outlets are here. As my colleague Brandon Janes reported, 99 reporters from 41 agencies were here yesterday. It looks like NPR, Al Jazeera, the Wall Street Journal and a few British media organizations have opted to cut out.

According to Google News, there are 582 news sources for "Nidal Hasan" today, so don't expect this run down to be even close to complete.

The Los Angeles Times leads off with the dynamic between Hasan and Lunsford, the first victim to testify.

The Wall Street Journal looks leads with Hasan's opening statement and comments from Col. Steve Henricks, who delivered the prosecutions opening statement.

The New York Times puts its focus mainly on Henrick's opening statement.

A majority of the news outlets are using Hasan's "I am the shooter" quote in their headlines.
