Good morning. This is day three and technically the sixth day since jury selection began last week for Maj. Nidal Hasan. Enough members could be selected to seat a jury today. The judge is looking for somewhere between 13 and 16 jurors to sit on the panel for Hasan's capital murder trial.

Six more potential jurors have been brought in from Army bases across the U.S. for today's hearing. Last week, prosecutors and Hasan questioned 20 members. The prosecution struck half of them while Hasan made no challenges. If three or more jurors from today's group make the grade, the court will have enough to seat a jury.

However, challenges will be allowed after today by either side. We should begin questions to the group as a whole, followed by individual voir dire after a late lunch and Hasan's prayer break.

The main talk today is not about the trial though, but rather the killing of a Killeen police officer over the weekend. Interviews with neighbors point to the shooter, who was also killed, being a solider. In our coverage, available here, neighbors and witnesses interviewed said the killer was an active-duty soldier who recently returned from Afghanistan. No word on the shooter's identity as of yet.

Killeen Police Department has not yet released the name of the officer. Funds have already been set up in the name of the officer's family. He was a member of Killeen Tactical Response Unit — commonly known as the SWAT team — and had been with KPD for 4 1/2 years. This incident was the first time a Killeen police officer had been killed while on duty in nearly 100 years.
