22 minutes.

That’s how long it took me to get through Copperas Cove this morning on my way to work. Traffic was backed up on 190 eastbound to Sonic, and at the intersection of 190 and MLK, vehicles were stopped at the green light.

I was chill over the whole situation. There was no use getting mad, honking, or weaving in and out of the tightly packed lines of vehicles. We were, and will continue to be, all in the same boat. To utilize my time sitting still, I cleaned off my passenger seat and sorted through paperwork that had piled up. I listened to my favorite morning radio talk show, and let people join the traffic party as they needed to.

But really, 22 minutes to get from end of Cove to the other? That used to be my entire commute. There’s speculation that the new light at the H-E-B Plus is the cause, but I can’t be certain, and I don’t want to lay blame on what is a great addition to the city.

I’d just like to get back to the good ole days of a speedier commute.
