Aegis, a call center, announced Tuesday it will hire 500 full-time, permanent positions at its Killeen location after the outsourcing firm received several new clients.
The 500 positions were created mainly by a new contract Aegis recently secured, said Kevin Nolan, an Aegis senior director and head of marketing.
Also, a current client of the company is expanding its services, which will provide additional jobs at the site.
These new jobs are not part of Aegis’ temporary, seasonal employment, Nolan said. These positions are expected to last.
The company will start its seasonal hiring sometime in the near future.
The wages will be between $9 and $13 an hour depending on the position.
In April, the company reported 1,100 employees worked at the Killeen location.
The new jobs benefit the community, said John Crutchfield, Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce president.
These new positions show Aegis is a well-managed organization and the area has a dependable workforce that can provide good employees to fill the jobs, he said.
“It speaks to the fact that the community can respond and there are talented people here,” Crutchfield said.
According to a news release from Aegis, the new jobs will include:
- Inbound sales professionals for a telecommunications service provider.
- Customer care specialists for one of the world’s largest health care payers.
- Customer care for a new financial services company.
- Customer care professionals for a growing client engagement with a leading online travel agency.
The outsourcing firm is looking for people with good phone and customer skills, Nolan said.
Aegis does on-the-spot interviews and sometimes hiring, but the employment process could take a couple of days, he said.
Prospective employees should watch for future job fairs.
Aegis’ Killeen operations are at 777 N. Twin Creek Drive.
