Baylor Scott & White, Goodwill to build facilities

Killeen and Copperas Cove in the past week issued two commercial building construction permits for projects valued at more than $1 million.

Baylor Scott & White received a permit Oct. 28 for a new 15,485-square-foot clinic at 4501 Clear Creek Road in Killeen, according to a Killeen repor t. The facility will replace the clinic at 1002 Wales Drive once it opens in March, according to a previous news release from Baylor Scott & White.

In Copperas Cove, Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries received a permit Wednesday to construct or reconstruct a facility at 2421 E. U.S. Highway 190, according to a city report.

The former Goodwill building burned down in March.

The estimated cost of construction for the Goodwill retail store is about $1.6 million, according to the report. Waco-based Pearson Construction is constructing the building for the nonprofit.

Two commercial remodel permits were issued for Cove City Hall, 914 S. Main St., Suites 1 and 2. The work is being done by David Harman Construction for $35,000.

The Killeen Independent School District also was issued a commercial construction permit for an accessory building at Palo Alto Middle School, 2301 W. Elms Road, stated the Killeen report.

Two commercial, finish-out construction permits were issued Thursday to Tran Construction Division for remodeling projects at China Gate Hotel and Suites, 1100 S. Fort Hood St. Life Church of Killeen received a commercial remodel construction permit to place its facility in a shell building at 122 W. Veterans Memorial Blvd.

No commercial building construction permits were issued in Harker Heights between Oct. 28 and Friday.

New home starts

Twenty single-family home permits and one multifamily home permit were recently issued in Killeen, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove.

Killeen issued 18 single-family home permits between Oct. 25 and Thursday, a report stated. The estimated construction costs for the homes ranged from $90,000 to $220,000 with all new home construction costing about $2.7 million.

All Star Homes started six of the 18 homes on Gemini, Orion and Little Dipper streets. Killeen also issued permits to Carothers Homes Inc., Cameo Homes Inc., Stylecraft Builders Central Texas, Ashford Homes, Lennar, Barnes Homebuilders and DR Horton for single family residences in the city.

Yellow Lilly Inc. received a new construction permit for a duplex at 1400 Loyal Lane.

Silverado Homes received a permit to construct a $116,000 home on Plateau Street in Copperas Cove. MA Hoard Construction was issued a permit to construct a $190,000 home on Mugho Drive in Harker Heights.
