Free class teaches women about car care

On Wednesdays through Nov. 20, Danny’s Transmissions, 110 B S. Fort Hood St., Killeen, is offering a free class to women from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Learn to Know Your Vehicle” will offer a free road test and participants will learn how to check all fluid levels and watch for early warning signs of trouble.

Free seminar on buying a home set for Saturday

The city of Killeen’s Community Development Division–HOME Program, along with Ronald Cooks with Connect Realty and Kawanda Polk with The National Banks of Central Texas, will conduct a free first-time homebuyer seminar from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Killeen Arts & Activities Center in the Community Development Training Room (802 N. Second St., building E, next to Head Start).

CenturyLink offering teachers grants in Texas

The CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation’s Teachers and Technology grant program is taking applications through Jan. 10.

The grant program is open to public and private school teachers in CenturyLink’s service areas.

The foundation will award more than $1.4 million in grants to support technology in the classroom through the 2013-2014 Teachers and Technology program, according to a news release.

Resource center plans business seminars

The Central Texas Business Resource Center plans the following workshops in October:

BANKROLLING YOUR BUSINESS: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. This workshop covers information about funding sources available for businesses, including grants and loans, and how to qualify for funding. Cost is $25.

FACEBOOK 101 FOR BUSINESS: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 29. Facebook is an effective networking and marketing tool that can create awareness and connect your business or organization with your community. This session will cover the basics, statistics and trends. Cost is $25.
