Development center holds Cove workshop

The Small Business Development Center, which is part of the Small Business Administration, is conducting a workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Copperas Cove Economic Development offices, 210 S. First St.

The workshop will provide insight for operating a small business and include a question-and-answer session.

Resource Center gives team-building course

The Central Texas Business Resource Center is providing a Developing Your Small Business Team program for interested entrepreneurs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 300 Cheyenne, Killeen.

A business must have competent employees, management and leadership, stated a news release from the center. Tuesday’s workshop will discuss best practices, information on the laws and suggested procedures for hiring employees from the small-business owners’ perspective.

Professionals graduate from Leadership Killeen

Carlyle Walton, CEO of Metroplex, will speak to the 2014 graduating class of Leadership Killeen, a group of business professionals who are learning about the community, during a graduation ceremony Wednesday.

The group’s last meeting is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, 1001 Leadership Place, Killeen. The 2014 class will complete its project presentations to end the nine-month course.

Killeen chamber welcomes Emancipet Wednesday

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Emancipet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at 208 W. Avenue B, Killeen.

Killeen chamber offers business builder academy

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce is holding a Business Builder Academy about creating a positive customer service experience from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at One Santa Fe Plaza, Killeen.

The academy course will suggest ways to create positive customer experiences that could result in increased consumer satisfaction, loyalty and revenue.

Teresa Chavez, director of continuing education at Central Texas College, will lead the course.

The course includes lunch and is free for Business Builder, Leadership and Killeen 2.0 Investors members. It is open to all other chamber members and nonmembers for $20.

Shirtzz.com opens new south Killeen location

After eight years of operation, Shirtzz.com opened a second location in Killeen.

The T-shirt design business started in 2006 and went into its first physical location in 2008.

The second store is at 1300 W. Stan Schlueter Loop, suite 100.

The store offers a variety of shirt styles and will print single shirts up to orders of 10,000-plus. It also does custom T-shirts and hats, personalized photo T-shirts, digital full-color shirt printing and make-your-own saying T-shirts. Call Shirtzz.com at 254-690-8500.

El Chico Café Killeen supports local churches

El Chico will be offering church-goers a 10 percent discount on their day-of-service bill, if they provide a church bulletin starting June 1.

Additionally the TexMex restaurant will give 10 percent of the customer’s check to churches who participate in the program.

“We are grateful for all of the customers we have regardless of whether or not they are church oriented, but we feel that by being a part of the community it is our obligation to give back to the community as well as our guests,” stated a news release from the company.

To get a church registered with the program, pastors should call the restaurant at 254-634-0501.

Fort Hood Realtors hosting casino night

Viva Las Vegas Casino Night will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 South W.S. Young Drive.

The night is a fundraiser for Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee.
