Killeen conducts home buyer assistance program
Killeen’s Community Development Division’s Home Program and Mazen Diab, with Chase Bank, will conduct a first-time home buyer seminar from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The seminar will be at the Killeen Arts and Activities Center, 802 St., Building E, in the Community Development Training Room.
Attendees will learn the pros and cons of homeownership, budgeting, goal setting, credit ratings, pre-approval and how to choose a mortgage lender and realtor, home inspections and warranties, making an offer on a home, the closing process and the responsibilities of home ownership.

Resource center hosts customer service workshop
The Central Texas Business Resource Center hosts a workshop on ways to provide excellent customer service from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 300 Cheyenne Drive in Killeen.
Workshop attendees will discuss the business rationale and economics of delivering outstanding customer service in small businesses. Registration for the class is ongoing. The cost is $25 per person.
Cove EDC to hear program about business laws
The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation will hear a presentation by attorney Meredith A. Armstrong, president of M.A. Armstrong Law Firm, at noon Friday at 210 S. First St.
Armstrong will discuss laws affecting businesses and how to convert an operation from doing business as a limited liability corporation.
Attendees also will learn how to maintain business entity status, protect valuable proprietary information and protect a brand.

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce will host a Business Builder Academy from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Chamber, One Santa Fe Plaza, Killeen.
A Human Resources Boot Camp will be featured. Sonja Havens, executive vice president of human resources for First National Bank Texas, will discuss a number of human resource topics including payroll, employment taxes, appropriate interview questions, overtime and unemployment claims.
The academy is free for chamber business builders, leadership and Killeen 2.0 Investors. It is open to the public for $50. Lunch will be provided.
