Cove EDC seeking new board member

Copperas Cove is accepting applications to fill a position on the city’s economic development corporation board of directors.

The board directs and coordinates the expansion of the city’s business tax base and promotes sustainable job growth.

Five members, appointed to three-year terms, make up the board, which meets the fourth Thursday of every month.

Heights chamber plans morning coffee social

Lennar Homes will host the Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce Coffee Connection from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at 2600 Douglas Fir Drive, Harker Heights.

The Coffee Connection is a morning networking event for business owners, professionals and community members to socialize and connect.

Real Estate Commission official to visit Killeen

Bill Jones, commissioner and vice chair of the Texas Real Estate Commission, will be at the Fort Hood Area Association of Realtors to discuss changes to contract forms and how they affect Realtors.

Resource center teaches home-based basics

The Central Texas Business Resource Center will conduct a workshop on starting and running a home-based business from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 300 Cheyenne Road, Killeen.

The course will discuss fundamentals and requirements involved in starting a home-based business with a question-and-answer session.

Development center offers one-on-one time

A representative from the Small Business Development Center in Waco will be available for one-on-one counseling sessions from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at 210 S. First St., Copperas Cove.

Killeen chamber talks transportation

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce hosts a transportation summit from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Central Texas College’s Anderson Campus Center.

Texas Department of Transportation’s Waco District engineer, Bobby Littlefield, will discuss construction projects in Bell and Coryell counties.

Gary Bushell, an attorney and a government consultant focusing on transportation, will discuss the Gulf Coast Strategic Military Highway Coalition and plans to designate U.S. Highway 190 as part of the Interstate Highway System.

Killeen Toastmasters offers youth course

Killeen Toastmasters will conduct a youth summer education program about communication.

“Success Speaks Youth Leadership Program” is a nine-week course from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays.

It starts June 16 at the Fort Hood Area Association of Realtors building, 306 W. Mary Jane Drive, Killeen.

High school students in the program should learn valuable communication and leadership skills for college or future employment.

The 20th annual Harker Heights Chamber of Commerce of golf tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. June 28 at Stonetree Golf Course in Killeen.
