Business basics workshop scheduled Tuesday

The Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation and Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce will host a representative with the Small Business Administration to teach a business basics workshop Tuesday.

The workshop will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cove EDC office, 210 S. First St. Call 254-547-7874.

Resource center teaches restaurant startups

The Central Texas Business Resource Center will conduct a workshop on the fundamentals and requirements involved in starting a new restaurant from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

A question-and-answer session will be part of the workshop.

The workshop will be at Killeen Workforce Solutions Center, 300 Cheyenne, Room 101. Call the center at 254-200-2001 to sign up.

Resource center talks about business funding

The Central Texas Business Resource Center and the Belton Chamber of Commerce will host a workshop about funding businesses from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Information includes grants, loans, and other sources, and how to qualify for funding. A question-and-answer session will follow.

The workshop is at the Belton Chamber of Commerce office, 412 E. Central Ave.

Cove chamber to host Operational Test Command

Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce members will host their monthly military affairs dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The guests will be from Fort Hood’s Operational Test Command.

The event is at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, 1206 W. Avenue B.

Rep. Sheffield to address Young Professionals

During their monthly business luncheon, the Greater Killeen Young Professionals and the Belton Young Professionals will discuss current state affairs with District 55 state Rep. Ralph Sheffield, R-Temple.

The lunch will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Harker Heights Activities Center, 400 Indian Trail.

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce will host its Thursday night mixer from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Metroplex Rehabilitation Center, 2300 S. Clear Creek Road, Suite 102, Killeen

Killeen chamber to host luncheon with Aycock

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce public policy and public education committees and the Centroplex P-20 Council will host a luncheon with District 54 state Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock, R-Killeen, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

Aycock is chair of the Texas Public Education Committee and will discuss House Bill 5 and its impact on business and education. The bill addresses public school accountability.

The luncheon will be at Central Texas College’s Anderson Hall, 6200 W. Central Texas Expressway, Building 156, Killeen.

H-E-B launches organic food line

H-E-B is introducing H-E-B Organics, the company’s own line of organic products.

The new line will focus on everyday pantry staples such as canned tomatoes and vegetables, cereal, crackers, fruit and specialty spreads, coffee, salad dressing and potato and tortilla chips.

Additionally, the launch will include items throughout the produce and market departments including salads, carrots, cheese and various beef products customers can use every day.

All H-E-B Organics products are USDA-certified.

Bead Bistro will host author, jeweler

Bead Bistro will host Cincinnati author Kieu Pham Gray at its store, 2501 S. W.S. Young Drive, Suite 311, Killeen, all weekend for a book signing and classes.

Gray authored “Hot & Cold Jewelry Connections: How to make jewelry with and without a torch.” The book signing is from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, and classes are Saturday and Sunday.

Local Harley dealers recognized

Fort Hood and Horny Toad Harley-Davidson were awarded Harley-Davidson Motor Company’s Gold Bar & Shield Circle of Excellence Award for the 2013 calendar year.

This award is presented to the top U.S. dealerships. Fort Hood and Horny Toad Harley-Davidson ranked first in their district in Texas and 15th in the nation.

Fort Hood and Horny Toad Harley-Davidson earned the award based on their motorcycle and related product sales performance, an evaluation of customer service and satisfaction and operational measures. Fort Hood and Horny Toad Harley-Davidson have been in business in the Bell County area since 2006. This is the second time they have received this award.
