Carolina Ale house opening next week in Killeen

Carolina Ale House’s first Texas restaurant will open Wednesday in Killeen after two years of preparation.

“We are ecstatic about being in Texas, especially since 25 more locations will open in the state,” said Lea Cooper, a marketing coordinator for Sullivan Management, a licensee of LM Restaurants.

The North Carolina-based company, LM Restaurants, has confidence the Killeen location will do well in the market since its Carolina Ale House restaurants experienced successful business in other military-based cities, Cooper said. The restaurant operates near military installations in Jacksonville, N.C.; Fayetteville, N.C.; Columbia, S.C.; and Augusta, Ga., and in many other communities.

“So many people in this town know about us from the military bases we are already at,” Cooper said. “We partner ourselves up a lot with college towns and military bases.”

Texas and Killeen attracted the company because of the growing population and economic base, she said.

About 190 people were hired to run Carolina Ale House’s Killeen location. Those people are now a part of the company’s family, Cooper said.

Greg Gerrans, director of training and new store openings. The restaurant chain gives back through numerous events during the year. During its first two days of business, Carolina Ale House will donate portions of its revenue to the USO Fort Hood.

“‘It is a party with a purpose’ is something one of regulars said to me one time,” Gerrans said, noting the company has raised money for local police departments, the USO and several other causes.

The new restaurant features 60 beers on tap and a 90-bottle selection. Sixty TVs, featuring all sports, are viewable from 34 outside and 62 inside table tops throughout the 10,000-square-foot space.

“The biggest thing that will set us apart (from the others), is that we are a family friendly sports bar that makes everything from scratch,” Cooper said.

Wings, flatbread pizza, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and steaks are all on the menu.

“We get excited about the product, because we are food and beer nerds,” Gerrans said.
