A McKinney-based contractor started renovating a space for a Charlotte Russe store in the Killeen Mall last week.

Mascot Construction Inc. is remodeling a 5,700-square-foot store in the Killeen Mall for the fashion clothing and apparel outlet.

According to a Killeen city permit report, the cost of the renovations will be $142,000.

Charlotte Russe operates more than 500 stores nationwide.

Construction should take about three months, according to estimates provided to the Killeen Mall from the company, said Mardi Peaster, Killeen Mall marketing and specialty leasing manager.

Victoria’s Secret and Kay Jewelers also are renovating their spaces, Peaster said.

Residential construction

The remodeling project was the only commercial construction issued between April 4 and Thursday in Killeen. The city issued 31 single-family home construction permits during the same period.

The homes ranged in construction cost from $95,000 to $312,000, stated a city permit report. Together the projects were worth about $4.6 million.

Killeen-based Purser Homes and Fort Worth-based DR Horton were granted the most permits, eight and nine respectively.

Nolanville granted two single-family home construction permits during the same period.

A $238,000 home is being built by Temple-based Omega Builders on Bent Tree Drive and a $175,000 residence is being built on Weeping Willow by Copperas Cove-based Manning Homes.

Harker Heights permits were not available Monday.

Copperas Cove did not issue any commercial or residential construction permits.
