Conn’s HomePlus is now open in Killeen.

The new 45,000 square-foot store, at Wendland Plaza, 1101 S. Fort Hood St., opened Feb. 23. It’s at the site of the former Kmart, which closed in March 2017.

Conn’s will celebrate the store’s grand opening April 7.

The Houston-based specialty retailer of furniture, mattresses, home appliances and consumer electronics reports the store will create approximately 20 jobs.

Conn’s now has 117 stores in 14 states.

“We are excited to continue our growth in our home state of Texas and Conn’s is proud to join the Killeen community,” said Norm Miller, Conn’s chairman and CEO. “Killeen is a great fit for Conn’s and we are optimistic about the market. Our associates are looking forward to serving this great military community.”

Conn’s has retail locations in 14 states: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

“Unlike many of its competitors, Conn’s provides flexible in-house credit options for its customers in addition to third-party financing programs and third-party rent-to-own payment plans,” according to a press release from the company.

Other new businesses are also opening in the old Kmart shopping center, including health club Crunch Fitness, Dollar Tree, Lumber Liquidators and Altitude Trampoline Park.
