Home builders recently began work on 25 new residences in Killeen, and several commercial properties started remodeling projects in Killeen and Copperas Cove.
According to reports from Killeen, four commercial remodeling or finish-out construction projects were started between Jan. 9 and Thursday.
The projects are taking place at 2904 Trimmier Road, Suite 13; 4300 S. Fort Hood St.; 1825 Nathan Drive; and 2621 Polk St., Suite C.
Two of the facilities are being renovated by their owners. Starz-Gullick Inc. and Roland Tietze Inc. are doing the other projects, which will repurpose about 3,000 square feet apiece.
The estimated cost of the projects is $39,000.
Jacody Inc. is conducting a remodeling project at 2720 E. U.S. Highway 190 in Copperas Cove, a city report stated. The project is estimated at $416,000.
About $4 million worth of new home construction projects were given the green light during the same period.
Six home builders filed permits for 25 new homes ranging in estimated price from $87,000 to $459,000.
The homes are to be built on Driftwood Court, Uvero Alto Drive, Siltstone Loop, Traditions Drive, Generations Drive, Louise Lane, Serpentine Drive, Joyce Lane, Cottonpatch Drive, Alabaster Drive, Serpentine Drive, Tanzanite Drive and Breeder Lane.
Among the home builders are Fort Worth-based DR Horton, Harker Heights-based Carothers Homes, Killeen-based Purser Homes, Miami-based Lennar, Austin-based Saratoga Homes and College Station-based Stylecraft Builders Central Texas.
Killeen also issued a construction permit to Harker Heights to Yellow Lilly for a new duplex on Loyal Lane. The estimated value of the multifamily residence is $165,000.
No residential construction project permits were issued in Copperas Cove. Harker Heights and Nolanville permits were not available because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
