COPPERAS COVE — The Texas Economic Development Community recently recognized the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation for its work with locating Whataburger in the city.

The corporation’s work included negotiating land swaps with Fort Hood.

“The work and partnerships involved in building Copperas Cove’s economy through land exchanges with Fort Hood and subsequent development of those properties is remarkable,” said Dan Yancey, Cove EDC chairman. “I’m very proud of what this organization has accomplished and pleased that this work was recognized.”

In 1995, the TEDC established the Community Economic Development Award to honor excellence and exceptional contributions of Texas communities in economic development.

The criteria used to determine the recipients of the development award include innovativeness, transferability, community commitment and leveragability, measurable objectives, and ancillary benefits to the community.
