Mike Leatherman, operation executive director for Enactus, gives instructions to Janette Baez on the trim to be painted at the newly remodeled The Roo Stop. “We are working off grants from Sam’s Club and Coca-Cola. We received paint from Sherwin Williams, and much more. This place will have a new feel, environment, for the high school students,” Leatherman said.

"We came in here before gutting the place and saw how the students would have no room to sit. Many would stand and mingle during their lunch. We are adding picnic style tables, standing bar, and more to add comfort to the Killeen High students." said Chastity Clemons, professor and Enactus Coordinator at Central Texas College, while she paints the back wall of the restaurant of the Roo Stop.

The Roo Stop has a grand reopening 11 a.m. Monday.

Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Sitting outside of Killeen High School, the Taste-N-See is a small restaurant that served mostly students during lunch.
“Without the kids we probably wouldn’t be here now,” owner Gracey Smith said. “We don’t get enough adult traffic in the evenings.”
