HARKER HEIGHTS — Walmart Neighborhood Market and a dental office brought in $6 million in commercial construction projects to Harker Heights last week.

A construction permit was issued to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for a $5.5 million, 41,000-square-foot building to be erected at 960 E. Farm-to-Market 2410, according to a Harker Heights permit report.

A permit also was issued to Salado-based John Kohutek Homes for the construction of Endodontic Clinic at 410 E. Central Texas Expressway, a 7,200-square-foot project that is estimated to cost $500,000.

Residential building permits added $1.6 million in construction projects to the city. Harker Heights issued eight residential permits for the construction of homes valued at $135,000 to $259,000 each on Chaucer Lane, Vineyard Trail, Terra Cotta Court, Techny Drive and Clore Road.
