Health care will be more competitive in the Killeen-Fort Hood area next year. Insurance giant Humana Inc. announced this week its members will have in-network benefit access to services provided by Seton Medical Center Harker Heights.
The agreement includes covered access for members of Humana’s commercial Preferred Provider Organization, Health Maintenance Organization, Point-of-Service and HumanaOne individual plans.
Current members of Humana Medicare Advantage PPO, HMO and Private-Fee-For-Service health plan also have benefit access.
Eligible beneficiaries for Medicare who sign up for the approved plans during the annual enrollment period will have in-network benefits during the 2013 plan year.
“This certainly is something we are all excited about,” said Matt Maxfield, CEO of Seton Medical Center Harker Heights. “We worked on this for a long time, and we are proud to have established this relationship with Humana.”
Maxfield said the deal puts Seton on a “more competitive playing field” with Metroplex and Scott & White.
Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is a full-service acute-care facility that opened in June with more than 300 employees. Among the services offered are emergency care, women’s services, orthopedics, cardiology and imaging diagnostics.
“Humana is proud to partner with Seton Medical Center Harker Heights to increase health care options for our members who live in McLennan and Bell counties,” said Linda T. Hummel, president of the Employer Group Division for Humana in Texas. “Seton Medical Center is a well-respected provider that shares a commitment to the medical needs, health and well-being of our members.”
