Members of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce discovered details about changes to its operations and structure Wednesday morning.
“This last year, our organization has spent a great deal of time in strategic planning meetings,” said John Crutchfield, chamber president.
There are now two kinds of chambers of commerce, a social club and one that offers more, he said.
Social is not working for Killeen because the investors need and want things.
“You have to provide value to investors,” Crutchfield said. “People who have been members are used to getting information they aren’t used to getting products and services.”
The new system the chamber is offering adds a variety of tiers for members. Cheaper membership will give more traditional services such as placement on its directory, access to mixers and a ribbon-cutting. More expensive avenues to join the business-based organization include items such as strategic introductions to other businesses or people, access to local municipal leaders and more.
These changes mean the chamber is providing more value to its members and services tailored to their needs, said Jonathan Packer, chamber senior vice president of business development.
