Area cities reported about $5 million in new residential construction projects last week. About $1.6 million of that figure was the cost of building duplexes mostly on Passion Flower Lane in Killeen.
Killeen issued nine duplex construction permits between April 25 and Thursday for more than $1.4 million in new residential construction.
Eight permits were issued to Killeen-based Bell Checks LTD, six of which were for duplexes on Passion Flower Loop, according to a Killeen report. Yellow Lilly Inc. received a permit for the construction of a multifamily dwelling on Loyal Lane.
The estimated construction cost of the duplexes ranged in price from $156,000 to $160,000, the report stated.
Manning Homes was granted a duplex construction permit in Copperas Cove. The Cove-based builder and developer is constructing a multifamily dwelling on Starlight Drive for about $135,000.
Construction permits were issued last week for an estimated $3.4 million in single-family dwellings.
Killeen issued 19 single-family-home permits with an estimated total construction cost of $2.5 million, according to a city report. Killeen-based Ashford Homes will build seven homes on Uvero Alto Drive, and Fort Worth-based DR Horton will construct five homes in various subdivisions. The cost of the homes ranged from $85,000 to $188,000.
Harker Heights granted three permits for single-family residences to Harker Heights-based Cornerstone Contractors Inc., Atlanta-based Ashton Woods Homes and Miami-based Lennar Homes.
The homes ranged from $86,000 to $182,000, totaling about $433,000 in new construction in the city, a Harker Heights report stated.
Nolanville granted two new single-family home permits to Killeen-based A&G Homes. The homes cost $205,000 and $230,000.
Copperas Cove did not issue any single-family home construction permits. The city did issue a commercial building construction permit to Kempner-based Bunnell Metal Building for a $285,000 facility at 504 S. First St.
