Military expert to Cove EDC: 'The situation in the Army is so uncertain'

COPPERAS COVE — The Heart of Texas Defense Alliance briefed the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation about Fort Hood and Army funding.

Retired Col. Bill Parry, with the alliance, said there is a lot of uncertainty with how funding will continue in the Army because of debates surrounding the National Defense Authorization Act and what presence the U.S. will have in Afghanistan after 2014.

“The situation in the Army is so uncertain,” Parry said.

One thing is for certain though, Parry said. Soldiers will continue to be paid. Fort Hood currently is holding a steady troop count of about 42,000.
