Construction can begin on six new homes in Killeen and four residential structures in Harker Heights after permits were issued during a short holiday week.

According to a Killeen report, new single-family home construction cost estimate for the six structures was about $1.14 million. The individual price of each home ranged from $104,000 to $353,000.

The construction permits were issued to Killeen-based Purser Homes, Belton-based Bell County Victory Homes, Fort Worth-based DR Horton and Harker Heights-based Carothers Homes.

The contractors are building the homes on Sands Lane, Parkmill Drive, Tara Drive, Tanzanite Drive and Inspiration Drive. Two of homes will be constructed on Tara Drive.

In Harker Heights, the city issued two single-family home construction permits to Killeen-based Cameo Homes for dwellings on Cattail Circle and Walden Creek.

The two residences ranged in price between $250,000 and $350,000, according to a Harker Heights report.

Two construction permits also were issued to Killeen-based Rocky Creek Investments to build two duplexes in the 900 block of Pinewood Drive.

Each duplex has an estimated cost of $179,000, the report stated.

Together, the homes and the duplexes were valued at $958,000.

Commercial construction

Four permits were issued to construct the interiors of commercial buildings in Killeen. The estimated cost of the four projects was $303,800.

Killeen issued three remodel commercial/finish out permits for properties at 2008 E. Central Texas Expressway, 12181 S. Fort Hood St., and 4700 Trimmier, Suite F, a Killeen report stated. A finish-out permit was issued for a property at 3803 Ley Lane, Suite 103.

A city permit report was not available for Copperas Cove.
