More homes going up in Killeen, Heights

Construction has started on 15 homes in Killeen and Harker Heights.

Killeen granted construction permits to Fort Worth-based DR Horton for six homes and Harker Heights-based Carothers Homes for three homes between March 7 and Thursday, according to a city report. The homes are being built on Legacy Lane, Traditions Drive, Mustang Creek Road, Clear Brook Drive, Lorne Drive and Parkmill Drive.

The nine new homes range in price from $114,000 to $251,000 for a total estimated cost of $1.5 million.

In Harker Heights, the city issued six construction permits for residences between March 10 through Friday, according to a city report. Contractors of the homes include Carothers Homes, DR Horton, Miami-based Lennar, Atlanta-based Ashton Woods Homes and Gatesville-based A & G Homes.

Construction of the homes ranged in price from $160,000 to $278,000 for a total of $1.3 million of new construction.

The homes are being built on Doc Whitten Drive, Douglas Fir, Cathedral Court, Tuscan Road and Chaucer Lane.

Nolanville during the last week issued a new mobile home permit to place a residence on West Birch. The cost of the structure is $50,000.

Killeen also issued the only commercial-related construction permit during the last week.

Park Construction is remodeling the inside of 4524 S. W.S. Young Drive, Suite 103. The project’s estimated cost was $6,000.

Copperas Cove permits weren’t available by deadline Monday.
