HARKER HEIGHTS — An open house for the new Corrective Chiropractic and Wellness facility was held last week at 560 E. Central Texas Expressway, Suite 102. Ursula Pirtle is the CEO of the operation and is surrounded by familiar names in local chiropractic services such as Drs. Shane Isdale and Jason Degenhardt, who are carrying on the family business of chiropractic care at the new location.
“Due to thousands of referrals from our patients, we outgrew our old building where we operated for seven years and moved to our new clinic,” Pirtle said Monday.
In addition, Jesse Gilliam, an acupuncturist and pediatric and pregnancy specialist, is new to the staff. He is a military veteran who acquired his master’s degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Gilliam specializes in infertility and women’s disorders.
“My favorite part of this specialty is when doctors send their patients to me for acupuncture and it improves the chances of a successful pregnancy such as carrying the baby to full-term and other issues,” he said.
“I love getting those cards in the mail with photos that show the results of our success.”
During the open house, a check for $2,122 was donated to Sharon Wesch, the coordinator of the Fort Hood Comfort for America’s Uniformed Service, which offers massage, Reiki and reflexology at no charge to wounded warriors.
“Many of the warriors are amputees with major scar tissue on the outside along with mental and emotional scars on the inside,” Wesch said.
Pirtle said they were able to give more this year over last year as a result of fundraising efforts.
In May and June, Corrective Chiropractic hosted an art contest for Killeen Independent School District high school art students and received 119 drawings, paintings and sculptures. Many of the winning creations are on display and enhance the facility.
Isdale and Degenhart are Killeen High School graduates and said the contest was a way for teens to learn about the importance of the spine and spinal health while realizing the value of art and creativity.
