H-E-B will be welcoming its third store in the city limits. Doors open at 6 a.m. Friday with a ribbon-cutting slated for 9 a.m.
H-E-B officials said they have high expectations for the store at 1101 W. Stan Schlueter Loop, adjacent to State Highway 195, and feel the location will be a prime reason for the store’s success.
“With all the people driving in from Austin to the Killeen area, and with the fast growing community of Killeen, we feel this location was a great choice,” H-E-B Community Coordinator Johnny Mojica said.
On Thursday, H-E-B welcomed over 50 local officials including Mayor Jose Segarra to a special preview of the store and the unique departments the new location will offer.
Some of the new departments include Meal Simple, where customers can buy precooked, nonfrozen meals to take on the go; Sushi Ya, a larger version of the sushi station found at most H-E-B locations; and True Texas BBQ, a full, sit down, fast food barbecue restaurant that also offers a wide variety of beers on tap.
“With such close proximity to multiple neighborhoods and Fort Hood, we hope this store has a positive impact in our community,” Mojica said.
The new store is the second largest H-E-B in Killeen at just over 83,000 square feet. The store is also fully staffed at just under 290 employees.
H-E-B now has five locations in the Fort Hood area, with three in Killeen, one in Copperas Cove and one in Harker Heights.
