Killeen will welcome The Gun Range, a new indoor gun range set to open this spring.
On Friday, nearly 30 people including the Killeen Chamber of Commerce, owner Paul Doyle and many family and friends showed up for the ground-breaking ceremony as construction on the new building started this month.
“We are proud to welcome our community to the very first-ever indoor gun range (in Killeen). This is a place that’s fun, safe, and built for the whole family to enjoy,” Doyle said Friday.
The nearly $4 million, 15,000 square foot project will take the next seven months before it opens in April 2018.
The Gun Range will offer firearms for rental and purchase, gun safety courses, and concealed carrying gun licenses.
“As a man who loves guns, I believe people need a safe place to practice using their firearms,” Doyle said.
The Gun Range will be located at 2401 S. Fort Hood Street.
“The building is conveniently located off Fort Hood Street, and will be easy for people to find if they haven’t heard of us before. We are just a short drive from almost all of Killeen,” Doyle said.
Some of the special features at the range will be the virtual reality projector that uses a real gun to shot the “bad guy,” but it doesn’t shoot actual bullets. Other features include a full snack bar, and TV lounge area.
“This gun range will also be a great place for date nights, too,” Doyle said.
The Gun Range will offer online bookings for gun safety courses, scheduling and reservation appointments for large parties.
