A new clinic is coming to Harker Heights, and several businesses are remodeling space to call Killeen home.

An 8,000-square-foot clinic is set to be built at 800 Prospector Trail in Harker Heights, according to a report from the city.

The permit was issued to the building’s contractor, Harker Heights’ Lisa Parker, on Thursday.

The estimated construction cost was about $6 million, according to the report, but Parker said it was going to cost significantly less than that and probably would be closer to $2 million. Parker has previously built Texas Heritage Park and Prospector Self Storage.

The clinic will serve as a future location for Dr. Sean G. Burgest, who already operates Pain Solutions Harker Heights.

According to a Killeen report, several contractors are remodeling space for new businesses.

Two of the larger projects are at 1001 S. Fort Hood St. and 2901 W. Elms Road, the report stated. The projects’ estimated valuation was about $940,000.

Killeen also issued a construction permit for a $45,000, 1,200-square-foot office or bank plaza at 1809 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd.

New housing

Copperas Cove didn’t issue any new commercial building construction or commercial remodeling permits between Nov. 8 and Thursday. However, the city did issue three permits for new homes.

Two of the homes are being built on Horizon Street by Copperas Cove-based Jerry Wright Homes, a Copperas Cove report stated.

The third home is being built by Killeen-based Jim Wright Company on Walker Place Boulevard.

Values for the homes are between $118,000 and $127,000. The homes will add about $370,000 of property value.

Killeen issued 10 construction permits for new homes.

Miami-based Lennar homes was issued the most new home construction permits, three, for single-family dwellings on Joyce Lane.

The values of all the new homes ranged between $116,000 and $201,000 for about $1.4 million in new property value in the city.

Construction permits were issued for one new single-family dwelling and two new duplexes in Harker Heights.

The duplexes are being built on Rosewood Drive by Killeen-based Jamie Herring Custom Homes at an estimated cost of $135,000 each.

Centex Homes/Pulte Homes, which is based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., but has operations in Killeen, is building a nearly $200,0000 single-family home at 806 Green Meadow Drive in Heights, according to the report.
