HARKER HEIGHTS — Twin Peaks, a mountain-lodge themed sports restaurant, is coming to Heights, and it is hiring.

Fred Morris, Harker Heights director of planning and development, said the city received plans to construct a 7,500-square-foot building at 401 Central Texas Expressway, the former home of Green Leaf Nursery.

Morris said revised plans are due back any day.

“There were just a couple items that needed to change to align with our city ordinances — nothing major in terms of revisions to their plans,” he said.

A demolition permit was issued Wednesday to tear down existing buildings on the site.

Morris said the restaurant could break ground and begin construction within 30 days.

Morris said he thinks the chain restaurant chose Harker Heights because of its excellent demographics and great consumer market.

“What drew them to come to Heights is our excellent economy here in Central Texas,” he said. “They will do well here.”

Based on Bell County property taxes, the estimated market value for the property is $260,140.

The Twin Peaks menu includes “hearty” American fare and boasts 32 draft beers poured at 29 degrees from a full-service bar, according to the restaurant’s website.

The restaurant was founded in 2005 in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville by restaurant veterans Randy DeWitt and Scott Gordon. Twin Peaks was named a “2010 Hot Concept!” by Nation’s Restaurant News and among Restaurant Business magazine’s 2011 “Future 50” concepts and 2013’s Top “Social Media 50” brands. The national chain has 42 locations throughout the southwestern U.S.

Just what we need...another Sports bar.

Mr. Morris...how about a Joe's Crab Shack and P.F. Changs.
Harker Heights could use a good seafood restaurant.
    Please...not a Red Lobster.
