PLANO — J.C. Penney’s turnaround is about to be tested as parents decide where they’re going for back-to-school shopping.

The Plano-based department store chain always needs to score high during the fall apparel season, which is second only to Christmas in sales. But this year will be an even bigger test.

The school year is about to begin again. That is a good thing, but with it comes the annual costly ritual of getting back to school materials. However, according to many reports, employers are paying approximately the same as they did a year ago, even though costs continue to rise. But there are ways to shop that will keep you from going bust, if you do some homework and legwork. Read more: Back to school shopping on a budget.

I think what might turn JCPenney around would be, to improve the quality of their products. Over the past few years the products sold in JCP have been of lower quality to what they once sold. Also, having more of a selection would be nice.

I don't shop JCP much anymore due to poor quality and selection.
