Local city permits released Monday showed several new homes being built in Harker Heights and new commercial businesses coming to Copperas Cove.
The largest-valued permit issued in Copperas Cove was for the construction of the new Scott & White Clinic at 239 W. U.S. Highway 190, according to a report released Monday.
A contractor, Austin-based Structura Inc., was issued the permit Oct. 18 to build the nearly 15,000-square-foot medical clinic for the health care system, the report stated.
The estimated cost of constructing the facility and its parking lot is $2.4 million.
A permit was issued Oct. 21 for the build-out of an H&R Block at the Five Hills shopping center. The construction in a shell building at the shopping center is estimated at $96,000.
On Oct. 21, Tom Wright Construction also received a Cove permit to remodel the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation’s building. Remodeling of the building is estimated at $245,000.
In Harker Heights, no new commercial property construction permits were issued for remodels or new buildings, but the city issued 12 new single-family home construction permits between Oct. 21 and Friday, according to a report.
Permits were issued to Copperas Cove-based Manning Homes, Harker Heights-based Carothers Homes and Temple-based DR Horton.
Cost estimates on the homes ranged between $200,000 and $250,000, the Harker Heights report stated.
DR Horton was issued the most permits for the week for homes being built along Vineyard Trail and Tuscan Road.
Other permits issued in both cities included those for garage sales, fence construction and accessory buildings.
A weekly permit report from Killeen was not available.
