The restaurant Richard Rawlings Garage in Harker Heights is listed as for sale on a real estate website, but patrons shouldn't spill their brisket nachos over the news; the restaurant isn't leaving town.
That's what Christopher Johnson. the general manager of the Harker Heights restaurant, located at 401 W. Central Texas Expressway, said in a phone call Wednesday.
"We're staying open, all they're doing is renegotiating the lease," he said.
The restaurant is expected to stay within the same ownership group.
Richard Rawlings Garage opened in August 2016 after it took over the property from the Twin Peaks restaurant that closed in September 2015.
The property — valued at nearly $3 million — is listed as "retail for sale" on Loopnet.com under the Marcus & Millichap Inc. listings. Neither broker Glen Kunofsky nor anyone in his office could be reached for comment on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Marcus & Millichap Inc. is a Palo Alto, California-based commercial real estate company.
Rawlings and his crew were in Heights for the restaurant's grand opening event in September 2016, and filmed the ribbon cutting ceremony for the for his show “Fast ‘N Loud" which airs on The Discovery Channel.
The Garage serves up American cuisine, which Rawlings’ describes as “revved-up comfort food,” and provides a fun atmosphere for the family.
