HARKER HEIGHTS — Open for business for a full week, the parking lot at the new Sam’s Club continues to remain packed and has maintained a steady flow of shoppers.

According to Mark Scott, public relations manager for the members-only club, more than 3,900 transactions were processed on opening day and more than 8,000 throughout its opening weekend. The store — the only Sam's Club in Killeen or Harker Heights — opened Sept. 26.

Sam’s Club officials were unable to disclose how the Heights opening day numbers compared to other recent club grand openings in other locations. Officials did not release sales figures in dollar amounts.

“The grand opening exceeded our expectations and we were very happy with the strong grand opening we had in Harker Heights,” Scott said.
