Killeen issued a construction permit for its second Stripes location, and Harker Heights permitted construction of Mattress Firm last week.
The commercial projects totaled about $1.1 million in new construction in the area.
Killeen granted two construction permits for a Stripes store to San Antonio-based Black Canyon Construction, stated a report from the city.
The contractor is building the 6,684-square-foot gas stations and convenience store at 8089 W. Trimmier Road with an estimated cost of about $864,000.
The city’s first Stripes store opened in late May.
Harker Heights granted a permit to Spring-based Angler Retail Construction LLC to build a Mattress Firm at 200 E. Central Texas Expressway.
The mattress store is being constructed inside a strip center at the site, which was developed by Austin-based Endeavor Real Estate. It will be the first tenant to be located at the center and take up 8,150 square feet, stated the city permit.
Another 4,574 square feet is still available to lease at the building, stated Endeavor’s website. A 1.4-acre lot is also available for sale.
Angler Retail Construction estimated the cost of installing the business into the center at $222,799, the permit stated.
Harker Heights issued six residential construction permits for new homes between May 26 and Friday.
Atlanta-based Ashton Woods Homes will build five of the homes on Vineyard Trail and Cathedral Court. Salado Premier Builders LP will build the sixth home on Alpine Fir Drive. The home values range from $150,000 to $220,000 for a total of about $1.1 million in new construction projects.
Nolanville issued two residential construction permits for single-family homes during the same period.
Killeen-based Vale Building group will construct a $120,000 home on Coffee Tree Court, and Copperas Cove Manning Homes will erect a $200,000 home on Bella Charca Parkway. Killeen issued one single-family home and two duplex construction permits between May 23 and Thursday.
Bell County Victory Homes Inc. will construct a $116,500 on Tara Drive. First Choice Builders will construct the two duplexes on Watercrest Drive. Their value was estimated at $164,680 each.
Copperas Cove didn’t issue any commercial or residential construction permits for new buildings.
