The new single-family home trend continued in Killeen last week, with the city awarding $1.5 million in permits.

Austin-based Ashton Austin Residential LLC will build six of the nine new homes — two on Taffinder Lane, two on Inspiration Drive and one each on Legacy Lane and Glynhill Court.

Homes by Jerry, Carothers Homes Inc., and Ashford Homes were awarded the remaining three permits for homes on Springforest and Castle Gap drives, and Deerwood Loop.

Yellow Lily Inc. also received two permits for new duplex homes, totaling $320,000.

Killeen also issued a total of $694,333 in remodeling permits, many of them roofing. The stream of roofing permits continued after a March 28 hailstorm. Killeen issued $138,469 in concrete paving permits.

Harker Heights issued nearly $9,000 in new residential permits and nearly $5,000 in building permits.

Copperas Cove also was dominated by re-roofing permits, with more than $277,000. Building permits totaled $27,124 and $20,000 in residential remodeling.
