GATESVILLE — Marty Smith, a charter member of the Coryell County Economic Development Board, resigned from the panel last week citing “time restraints.”

Smith was one of five members appointed to the board when it was created by the commissioners’ court in February 2012.

The board was later expanded to seven members and will soon be expanded to 12 members. With Smith’s resignation and the new positions, the board has six seats to fill.

Smith was elected to the Copperas Cove City Council in November. Before her election, she served seven years as president of the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce. She has lived in the county since 2000.
