A statewide H-E-B campaign will stop in Killeen on Friday to showcase Texas-made products and inform area food and beverage suppliers about an opportunity to get their products on its shelves.

The Quest for Texas Best, H-E-B traveling road show, will be at the H-E-B Plus!, 2511 W. Trimmier Road, from noon to 4 p.m.

As part of the show, H-E-B employees will distribute information about a statewide contest scouting Texas food and beverage suppliers’ products, stated a news release from the company.

An H-E-B team will review all entries and narrow them down to 24 applicants by August.

The top four products will be rated and put on store shelves as a Primo Pick by 2015.

“We are always on the lookout for these specialty Texas items and this is one way to find them,” said Tamra Jones, a company spokeswoman. “If you have your own salsa or your own jam, we want you to enter it.”

To enter the contest, food suppliers will need to do so online at www.heb.com/quest.

The road show campaign also will feature the company’s current Primo Picks, which are products made in Texas and sold in its 300 stores, for the public to sample.

“This is our way to highlight those Texas-made products,” Jones said.
