Workforce Solutions of Central Texas received four outstanding performance awards at this year’s Texas Workforce Annual Conference.
Three of the four awards included a program performance bonus of $15,000, allowing the organization to bring home $45,000. It received more awards and bonuses than any other workforce group in the state.
The monetary awards will be used to enhance service programs next year.
Two awards were presented to only one Workforce Area in Texas.
The first recognized outstanding service to business, and the second acknowledged its service for workers.
“Business Service staff describe potential ‘Business Solutions’ options that are based upon the specific needs of the high-profile businesses,” said Jerry Haisler, Workforce Centers director.
“The process develops a broad array of Business Solutions that meet businesses’ human resource hiring and training needs. Developing value-added Business Solutions insures success for everyone — businesses, community partners, and taxpayers.”
The Service to Workers Award drew attention to strategies used to link laid-off workers, especially veterans and military spouses, with employees.
In addition to the two outstanding service awards, Workforce Solutions of Central Texas received a top performance award in its budget category and a third-place statewide recognition for supporting individuals in their efforts to attend college and ultimately fill local high-skill, high-wage jobs.
Local business honored
Becon Construction Co. Inc. in Temple was recognized with a local Employer Award of Excellence at the Texas Workforce Annual Conference.
The award honors employers who are actively involved with the local Workforce Solutions offices.
Becon Construction worked with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas to plan recruitment processes and support strategies.
It relied on a holistic approach that included access to veteran job applicants, use of Workforce Center facilities, WorkInTexas.com, training assistance and customized workforce services.
