Shelley Wells has served on the Killeen Independent School District Board of Trustees since 2007. Ms. Wells is a former KISD teacher, a small business owner and a parent. Shelley graduated from Killeen High School and the University of Texas at Austin where she received a B.S. degree in Education. While a teacher with KISD, Shelley served as a cheerleading and pep squad sponsor. Additionally, as a parent of a student in KISD, Shelley served as PTA President.
Mrs. Wells is an active community member. She has served on many different committees and boards in the Killeen area. Currently, Mrs. Wells serves on the Killeen Education Foundation as the Board of Trustees representative. She is also a founding member of Vive Les Arts Society in Killeen and has served on its board of directors since 1993. Mrs. Wells served as Chairman of the Board of VLA from 2005-07. Shelley was one of the founders of The Junior Service League of Killeen and served on its board for many years. She is also a member and past president of the Junior Review Club. From 1996 until 2008, she served on the Board of Governors for the National League of Cotillions, Bell County Chapter. Mrs. Wells has been active with the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce and served as its Treasurer, on the Board of Directors, on the Military Affairs Committee and as an Ambassador.
Mrs. Wells also volunteers in our community. Some of her activities include serving on the City of Killeen’s 125th Birthday Celebration committee, the Metroplex Hospital Women’s Center Capital Campaign, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
Shelley has received several awards including: Outstanding Young Woman of America; the Athena, Woman of the Year Award and was named a 2007 Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of America, Bluebonnet Chapter.
Shelley is married to Kenny Wells of Killeen. Mr. Wells is self employed and currently serves on the Killeen City Council. The Wells have one daughter, Kelli, who graduated from Harker Heights High School in 2004 and from Baylor University in 2008 with a B.S. degree in Education. Kelli is married to Greg Beason and they reside in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Wells is a member of First United Methodist Church in Killeen.
