Judge sets Killeen special election

District Judge J.F. Clawson ordered Monday that Killeen set its election for open city council seats for May 12, leaving the city without a council for the next six months.

The order covers the general election for mayor, as well as the three open at-large seats. In addition, a special election to fill the unexpired terms of Districts 1 and 2 will be held. Those positions run through May 2013.

The city requested a special election last week, after the votes from the Nov. 8 recall election were canvassed.

City officials asked for a special election to be held in February.

CTC Foundation accepting scholarship applications

The Central Texas College Foundation is accepting applications online for scholarships to be awarded for the fall and spring 2018 semesters. Students can apply online through March 31. The scholarships will be awarded near the end of this spring semester.
