Senior center offers diabetes workshops

The Copperas Cove Senior Center offers free diabetes self-management classes from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday.

The senior center is at 1012 North Drive.

Organizations to visit veterans hospital

The Military Order of the Cootie, Pup Tent 13 and Auxiliary will travel to the Temple veterans hospital at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The vehicle will leave Copperas Cove VFW Post 8577 at 6 p.m.

Crime Stoppers pays for tips

Copperas Cove Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that helps solve crimes. All callers will remain anonymous. For more information, call (254) 547-1111 or go to www.tipsubmit.com.

City schedules public meeting about grant

A public meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. today at the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation, 210 S. First St., for residents to hear about a Downtown Revitalization Program grant through the Texas Department of Agriculture.

The program can provide funding for renovation and/or construction of American Disabilities Act sidewalks, lighting, drainage and other infrastructure improvements in the city's downtown area.

Its funds are part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant program.

The Chamber of Commerce has form letters for this project and encourages residents to sign one in support of this project.

Class of 1977 hosts reunion in July

The Copperas Cove High School Class of 1977 is celebrating its 35th graduation anniversary from the district.

The class is inviting classmates from 1973 to 1980 to join the festivities.

Events start at 1:30 p.m. July 27 with golf at Hills of Cove Golf Course. The cost is $30 per person in a four- person scramble.

The day will conclude with music by One Fine Burrito from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dave's Sports Bar and Grill. A burger meal will be available for $6.50.

At 7 p.m. July 28, a dinner will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall catered by Five Hills BBQ. The cost is $25 per person.

Cove Democrats to meet Thursday

The Democrats of Copperas Cove will meet at Lil-Tex Restaurant at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Following a "dutch treat" supper and social, the meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

The discussion topic is women's health. The group hopes others will join the meeting, which will include door prizes.

The site of a free health fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, was changed to the Copperas Cove Civic Center because of possible inclement weather.

2 U.S. Highway 190 accidents reported by Belton FD
